Biography

My research interests are in the areas of ecotoxicology and algal ecophysiology. A central theme of my current research is the investigation on toxic effects of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in phytoplankton in the Red Sea. Atmospheric input of PAHs into marine environments is significantly high and there is a growing concern on their impacts on ecosystem structure and function. The research emphasizes on the PAH toxicity responses in phytoplankton, their ecological fates and analytical method development for effective monitoring
