Biography
My research interest focus on investigate the pathway and amount of PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) transported into different levels of food webs within marine tropical area. PAHs are the most toxic components of oil and oil combustion in the environment. Saudi Arabia is one of the largest oil producing countries in the world where the risk of PAHs contamination could be possibly higher than other regions. Carbon stable isotope is an effective and sensitive method will evaluate the PAHs adsorption by phytoplankton and the subsequent transfer through the food webs (e.g. phytoplankton, corals) This project will help to understand the mechanism of pollutant transportation. It can also increase the awareness’s of the local decision makers to regulate the discharges of pollutants.
