Jazan University is a public research university based in the city of Jazan . Founded in 2006, It is the province's only university and one of the largest public, nonprofit institutions of higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. JazanU has a main central campus that rests by the Red Sea on the southwest coast of Saudi Arabia and also has satellite campuses in Sabya, Abu Arish, Farasan, Ad-darb, Samtah, Al-Daer and Al-Ardah. JazanU offers a broad range of academic departments, an extensive research enterprise and a number of community outreach and public service programs. It is particularly well known for its medical school, dental school, school of business, its social sciences and humanities programs, as well as its biomedical teaching and research capabilities.​
King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM or UPM) is a public university in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Among Saudi universities, its science and engineering programs are highly regarded. KFUPM was established on 23 September 1963 by a Saudi royal decree as the College of Petroleum and Minerals providing high-level education about petroleum and minerals, two of the most-valuable natural resources in Saudi Arabia. It was elevated to university status in 1975.​
King Abdulaziz University (KAU) was founded in 1967 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It had 2,000 faculty and more than 37,000 students in 2000/2001. Established initially as a private university by a group of businessmen led by Sheikh Muhammad Abu Bakr Bakhashab Pasha and including the writer Hamza Bogary. In 1974 King Abdulaziz University was converted to a public university by a resolution of the Council Ministers of Saudi Arabia. In 2016, it was ranked the top Arab university by Times Higher Education.​
The IIM was set up in Vigo in 1952 as a laboratory belonging to Barcelona's Institute of Fishing Research. The decision to locate the institute in Galicia was taken on the basis of the importance of the sea in the region's economy. The IIM is assigned to three areas (Natural Resources, Food Science and Technology and Agricultural Science) and carries out research in all areas of Marine Sciences, ranging from Oceanology to Molecular Biochemistry via Aquaculture and Physiology.​

King Juan Carlos University (Spanish: Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, URJC) is a Spanish public research university located in the Southern area of the Community of Madrid (Spain), with four campuses at Móstoles, Alcorcón, Vicálvaro and Fuenlabrada. It is named after king Juan Carlos I of Spain. It was established in 1996 and has the Latin motto Non nova, sed nove ("Not new things, but in a new way"). With 37,939 students, it is the second biggest public university in the Community of Madrid.[2] URJC is one of 8 universities in the Community of Madrid, and it is the second newest university in the Community.
The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) is dedicated to scientific discovery – exploring fundamental biology, understanding biodiversity and the environment, and informing the human condition through research and education. Founded in Woods Hole, Massachusetts in 1888, the MBL is a private, nonprofit institution and an affiliate of the University of Chicago.
After being independent for most of its history, it became affiliated with the university in 2013. It also collaborates with other institutions, including Brown University, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the Woods Hole Research Center.

The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is a tropical marine research centre located primarily at Cape Ferguson, North Queensland, Australia. Established in 1972, by the Commonwealth of Australia, the institute's primary function is research for sustainable use and protection of the marine environment. The Institute investigates topics from broad-scale ecology to microbiology.

AIMS is committed to the protection and sustainable use of Australia's marine resources. Its research programs support the management of tropical marine environments around the world, with a primary focus on the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, the pristine Ningaloo Marine Park in Western Australia and northwest Australia.​

Aarhus University, is a prestigious public university located in Aarhus, Denmark. Founded in 1928, it is Denmark's second oldest university and the largest, with a total of 44,500 enrolled students as of 1 January 2013, after a merger with Aarhus School of Engineering. In most prestigious ranking lists of the world's best universities, Aarhus University is placed in the top 100. The university belongs to the Coimbra Group of European universities. ​
IDÆA is the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research IDÆA-CSIC in Barcelona​, Spain. Devoted to the study of the natural and anthropogenic changes occurring in the ecosystems of the geosphere using chemical and geochemical tools. IDÆA is focussed on the changes related to climate and those involving toxicity increases for organisms and humans. ​
​The University of Algarve is a Portuguese public university with administrative and financial autonomy. Its two campuses and the central administration are located in Faro, the capital city of the Algarve region. Founded on 16 January 1979, the University of the Algarve results from the union of two preexisting institutions, the University of the Algarve and the Polytechnic Institute of Faro, which makes it somewhat different from most universities given that faculties and schools of both systems, co-exist.

The ICTJA is an international geosciences research institute of excellence whose mission is to advance the understanding of Earth System Science. We will achieve this by applying advanced (forefront) experimental and analytical methodologies to well-defined, knowledge-driven research objectives. A key part of our mission is to meet industrial and societal needs through knowledge transfer applied to geohazards and exploration and exploitation of geological resources. Central to our mission is quality training of the next generation of Earth Science researchers and technicians.​

The Institute belongs to the CSIC’s Natural Resources Area and is the largest marine research center in Spain and one of the most important in the Mediterranean region. It is entirely devoted to the study of oceans and seas. The Institute’s long experience and a team of over 200 specialists in different fields of oceanographic research (physics, chemistry, geology and biology) give the ICM a broad vision of the marine ecosystem, and the ability to assess changes and human impacts on the environment and seek appropriate solutions.​
